FIFA World Cup

On 7 March 2003, FIFA announced that the tournament would be held in South America for the first time since Argentina hosted the competition in 1978, Brazil were the only remaining official candidate after Colombia withdrew its bid on 11 April 2006. The Brazilian bid was won on 30 October 2007. 

1950 FIFA WORLD CUP: BRAZIL Brazil's determination to put on a show meant they built the world's biggest football stadium, the Maracana, for the 1950 FIFA World Cup™. Yet their dream of becoming the world's best died in that huge bowl, Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol - Página Oficial capturing their second crown, beating the hosts in front of 200,000 stunned spectators.




 
THE FIFA FAN FEST IS ALIVE!

Tens of thousands of people on the beach in Fortaleza, enjoyed top Brazilian music tonight, kicking off the World Cup Fan Fests tonight. You'll see more of these iconic moments throughout the World Cup.
